Lima-Arequipa-Puno-Cusco (12 days)
Day 1 – Lima
Today we will meet you upon arrival at the Jorge Chavez International airport. Right after that, we will be transferred to our hotel in Lima.
Day 2 – Lima
Today we will have our city tour of Lima. Here we will visit the most important districts of the city (modern and colonial). We will visit the neighborhoods of Miraflores, Barranco and Down Town Lima, where we will have the chance to visit the Cathedral and the San Francisco Monastery. We will also have the chance to visit the Main Square and see the Presidential Palace.
Day 3 – Arequipa City Tour
Early in the morning we will be picked up from the hotel and transferred to the airport to take our flight to Arequipa. After arriving we will be transferred to our hotel. In the afternoon we will take the City Tour of the city including the Santa Teresa Monastery.
Day 4 – Chivay
Today we will cross the Andes towards the Colca Canyon (approx 5 hrs.). The scenery is breathtaking with snowy volcanic peaks, llamas and the impressive terraces that welcome us at the Colca Canyon. We will spend the night in Chivay town.
Day 5 – Colca Canyon
Early morning we will head up to the “El Mirador del Condor” view point. There the magnificent condors may be seen flying over the canyon. On the way back we will visit the towns along the canyon including historic Yanque – and visit some markets and sillar stone churches. After finishing with the tour, we will start our trip back to Arequipa.
Day 6 – Puno
Early in the morning, right after having breakfast, we will be transferred to the airport to take our flight to Juliaca. There we will be received by our driver and take to Sillustani. This amazing archeological site compound of several stone tower shape tomb on top of a hill will impress you by its amazing size and breathtaking view. After that we will continue our drive to our hotel located on front of Lake Titicaca.
Day 7– Uros & Taquile
Right after breakfast, we will head to the port. Here we will take the boat to the Uros. These amazing reedf islands are located close to the coast. Here we will have the chance to see an alive culture, see its way of live and customs, and also the way they build these amazing floating islands. Right after that we will continue to Taquile Island or Intika (its name in Quechua), located 45 km from Puno. This island was part of the Inkan Empire, that’s why we can still appreciate some archeological sites.
Day 8 – Cusco City Tour
Our day starts with a private transfer to the airport to take our flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, we will be taken to our hotel in Cusco to get some rest and start to get acclimated to the altitude. After having a typical Andean lunch, we will start our city tour. Today we will visit the Cathedral, the Koriqancha (Temple of the Sun) and the nearby ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo and Pucapucara. Tonight we will have the chance to delight ourselves with a typical Andean meal and have a demonstration cooking class.
Day 9 – Sacred Valley
Today we will visit the Sacred Valley of the Inkas. After a light breakfast in the hotel, we will start our day by going to Pisac and tour its world renowned market featured on Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations. From Pisac, we will continue to Urubamba, where we will stop to have lunch surrounded by the steep, snow peaked mountains of the Sacred Valley and in the heart Urubamba River valley. Next, we will continue our tour by going to the Inka mountain fortress of Ollantaytambo. Here we will see beautiful vistas of terraces and the 19,000 ft Mt. Veronica. After finishing our tour at Ollantaytambo we will continue to Chinchero before going back to Cusco.
Day 10 – Aguas Calientes
You have the morning to explore Cusco at your leisure. Then, in the afternoon, after having a nice lunch we will be transferred to the Ollantaytambo station to take our train to Aguas Calientes. Our journey by train to Aguas Calientes, the base town of Machu Picchu, will follow class 5 rapids of the Urubamba River and will allow breathtaking vistas of canyon walls, nearly 20,000 ft snowy peaks and lush flowers as we enter the unique ecosystem of the cloud forest. If you are lucky, you may even see a Macaw Parrot. Upon arrival, we will go to our hotel to check in and spend a relax night.
Day 11 – Machu Picchu
We start this important day off right with an early morning breakfast. Right after that we will head to our bus for our journey to the majestic Machu Picchu. As the sun rises over the jagged Andes, you will turn to be amazed by one of the Seven Wonders of the World. You will start this amazing day with a privately guided tour of the vast ruins of Machu Picchu. After the tour, you will have the opportunity to exploring Machu Picchu, the Inka Bridge, or the Sun Gate at your leisure. After our day on Machu Picchu, we will board the train back to Cusco.
Day 12 – Lima
After having our last breakfast in Cusco, we say goodbye to Cusco and board our private transportation to the airport and our flight back to Lima.
